Tim Robinson

Chair Person and Parent Rep

I’ve been in Wellington since 1999, and have loved living in Miramar since 2014. Natalie and I have two kids at MCS, and another starting next year. I spend my days as a consultant in the energy sector, an interesting and varied job that lets me spend time with all sorts of people, all around the Asia Pacific region. I’m a committed Christian, an amateur musician, an even more amateur potter, and I love board games. I’m excited to be part of a board that supports academic achievement, fosters the cultural diversity that makes us special, and helps make MCS a place where everyone wants to be.

Julia Flanagan

Parent Rep

I have been living in Miramar for seven years and our son Caleb is in Year 4 this year. We have loved being a part of such a diverse and friendly community since he started at Miramar Central School in Year 1. I taught Design, IT and Art for seven years at Wellington East Girls' College before becoming a mum, and since returning to work after a break to be at home with the kids, have worked as a freelance Graphic Designer from home. I am passionate about how curriculum can be taught robustly but in creative and inspiring ways which connect with the kids' worlds and their experiences outside the classroom. I have enjoyed contributing to the school community as a Board Member and learning about how schools operate from a governance point of view. 

Ruby Miller-Kopelov

Tēnā koutou katoa. I am originally from New Mexico, USA, and have been lucky to call Wellington home since 2009. What a privilege to live right around the corner from the wonderfully diverse, welcoming community at MCS! Daniel and I have 2 children, one who will start Year 2 shortly. I am a registered nurse with 16+ years experience, mostly spent working in ICU in a senior clinical education role. I have previously been a member of an ECE governance group, which I really enjoyed. I am excited to be a new member of the Board, to learn as much as I can and work hard to support our fantastic teaching staff and leadership team. I contribute my passion for diversity, equity, inclusiveness, community, science, and sustainability.  I look forward to meeting many more of you over the coming years! 

Rochelle Lambert

Parent Representative

I have been a part of the Miramar community for over 15 years. I have two sons in Year 5 and my eldest son completed six years at MCS in 2021. I have been a member of the FaCE team since 2015. On weekdays you’ll find me working in the public sector for a regulatory agency, on weekends you’ll find me either running my small business or standing on the side of a football pitch cheering on my kids. My academic background is in educational psychology/human development and learning. I am passionate about making sure every child is able to reach their full potential. I also have a strong interest in the experiences of neurodivergent students. I am proud to be a member of the MCS board. I can still remember when my mother joined my school’s very first BoT after the Tomorrows Schools reforms of the late 1980s, 33 years later it’s my turn! 

Tracy Shanks

Staff Representative

Kia ora e te Whānau. I arrived at MCS in 2018 and enjoy being part of our wonderful community. My favourite year levels to teach are definitely the juniors! I am an advocate for play-based learning as it gives children opportunities to learn in different ways. I am also passionate about writing, art and digital technology. I have two daughters who both came to MCS and are now ECE teachers, and a fur baby called Winnie. I enjoy the outdoors, especially camping, walking and going to the beach. I am looking forward to work alongside my new team as we continue our journey teaching Better Start Literacy.

I have lived in Miramar for over 5 years. Ches and I have 2 boys both attending MCS. We are very fortunate to have such an awesome and diverse school for learning and community that we can all be a part of. I worked in Tonga and the Pacific region as a Finance Systems Analyst and ICT consultant. I am very passionate about tech and unlocking its benefits for all ages and communities.  I enjoy being a school Board member, learning from wonderful, intelligent and passionate people working together on this waka for our children and community.
