2025-2027 MCS Health/Hauora Curriculum Review
Every two years the Board of Trustees is required to consult with the parent and staff community about the school's Health/Hauora and Physical Education programmes, outlining our current programmes and ensuring we are meeting the needs of our students.
There are 7 key areas of learning in the National Curriculum Health/Hauora and Physical Education reflecting the education needs of New Zealand students: The first four relate to Health/Hauora and are:
- Mental Health - Understand who we are, enhance a sense of self worth and develop positive relationships with others.
- Sexuality Education - provides students with the knowledge, understanding and skills to be healthy and understand changes in our body.
- Food and Nutrition - understand healthy choices, the impact food has on our body.
- Body Care and Physical Safety - Looks at caring for ourselves, recognizing hazards in the environment and keeping safe.
The final three relate to Physical Education: physical education, sport studies, and outdoor education.
The Consultation Process
The purpose of the consultation is to outline the programmes being delivered, how they will be delivered and to identify the health/hauora education needs of tamariki.
Our current Health/Hauora and P.E. The programme is available on the school website. A schedule of activities throughout the year will be shared via classroom teachers on Seesaw.
Please complete the Google Form Survey. The survey closes on 28 April 2025.
- The summary of the Survey responses will be available early Term 2.
- Staff will use this information to improve their programmes for 2025 - 2027.
Thank you for your assistance to help us improve our Kura.
