At Miramar Central School we partner with the Wellington Musicians Network to provide music lessons for students in guitar, drums, ukulele, piano, violin and recorder (although if another instrument was requested we could almost certainly find a tutor).
We aim to make these as accessible to everyone as possible by offering a variety of groups sizes and costs.
At MCS we believe it is important to share the talents of our students. Opportunities are provided to perform at the end of year showcase, school events, our annual talent quest, productions or as part of the ukulele/guitar group at assemblies and kapahaka.
For more information on music at MCS email Harriet Richards at firstname.lastname@example.org
At Miramar Central School, each classroom has access to a range of digital devices to use within the classroom with Y0-2 mostly using iPads and Years 3-6 using a combination of laptops and chromebooks.
The children use the equipment in accordance to our Cyber-Safety agreement and gain computer skills such as word processing, using a range of programmes e.g. Mathletics, Hapara and Google Drive.
We have a 'Techie Club' who meet most weeks to learn new tips and tricks using Google applications and are also trained to set-up data projectors and to lock up/charge the school devices.
Every two years, each classroom puts together a short movie for the schoolwide ‘Movie Night.’ This night showcases the digital skills the children learn to film and edit their clips to make a 3-5 minute long movie.
