Board of Trustees

The governing body of our school ‘The Board’ meets monthly at 7pm usually on the third Tuesday of the month in the staffroom.

Parents/caregivers are welcome to attend these meetings. The Board will keep you informed via the school newsletter and welcomes feedback from the school community.

Georgie Miles (Chair person and parent)

I am from the UK and came to New Zealand for a few years....10 years later I am still here. I have been Chair of the Board since 2016.

I have two children who attend MCS.  I enjoy participating in the variety of school events.  I also organise and coach the 3/4 netball teams. I have worked in the Finance and Insurance sector for over 15 years.

My experience includes managing business change,  IT implementations, legislation changes and running operational teams.

I am very committed to ensuring all children at MCS get the opportunities to achieve to their very best.

Nathan Meyer (parent)

I have lived in Miramar for the last eight years and have three children one currently at Miramar Central School and another starting next year.

I have worked in a number of different roles in the food industry from restaurants to sales and currently have my own business involved in the manufacturing of food.

I look after the Finance and Property Portfolio.

Tim Robinson (parent)

I’ve been in Wellington since 1999, and have loved living in Miramar since 2014. Natalie and I have two kids at MCS, and another starting next year. I spend my days as a consultant in the energy sector, an interesting and varied job that lets me spend time with all sorts of people, all around the Asia Pacific region. I’m a committed Christian, an amateur musician, an even more amateur potter, and I love board games.

I’m excited to be part of a board that supports academic achievement, fosters the cultural diversity that makes us special, and helps make MCS a place where everyone wants to be.

Mike Sorensen (parent)

My name is Michael/Mike Sorensen and I’m pleased to be joining the Board of Trustees at Miramar Central School this year.  I have lived in Wellington my whole life, the past 7 years have been on the Peninsula. I’m part Maori, and my partner and I have a daughter at MCS, who is currently in year 2.

I’ve worked in various Government positions over the last 9 years.  Some of these roles have allowed me to work with and support a number of Pacific Island countries and ethnic communities. I believe the cultural diversity we have at MCS is a taonga to be celebrated.

Outside of work, I enjoy sport and DIY, although I would not claim to be particularly good at either! I want to support the school to be a place where children can learn, excel and gain the confidence to push themselves, but most importantly, for it to be a place they enjoy.

Nureddin Abdurahman (parent)

My name is Nureddin Abdurahman.  I am the proud husband of Keriya, and the father of Rayyan and Sumaya who are currently in room 9 and 13 respectively. I am originally from Africa; Ethiopia and I have lived in Wellington for the last eleven years. I currently drive a taxi for a living. I love football and support Arsenal. I have experience in leadership and governance across the community and NGO sectors. I am pleased to be joining the diverse hard-working Board of Trustees at Miramar Central School. I joined the Board of Trustees to show the mutual feeling of belonging in the wider community, to give back to the community and most of all I want to play my role in supporting the school to be a place where children can reach their potential.
