Board of Trustees
The governing body of our school ‘The Board’ meets monthly at 7pm usually on the third Tuesday of the month in the staffroom.
Parents/caregivers are welcome to attend these meetings. The Board will keep you informed via the school newsletter and welcomes feedback from the school community.
Georgie Miles (Chair person)
I am from the UK and came to New Zealand for a few years....10 years later I am still here. I have been Chair of the Board since 2016.
I have two children who attend MCS. I enjoy participating in the variety of school events. I also organise and coach the 3/4 netball teams. I have worked in the Finance and Insurance sector for over 15 years.
My experience includes managing business change, IT implementations, legislation changes and running operational teams.
I am very committed to ensuring all children at MCS get the opportunities to achieve to their very best.
I have lived in Miramar for the last eight years and have three children one currently at Miramar Central School and another starting next year.
I have worked in a number of different roles in the food industry from restaurants to sales and currently have my own business involved in the manufacturing of food.
I look after the Finance and Property Portfolio.
Rachel Burke - staff representative
I am the Staff Representative for the Board of Trustees. I teach year 5 and 6 at MCS and have been teaching for 10 years.
I have taught a range of different year levels during this time, but feel that I have found my niche teaching the older kids!
I have been a parent representative on the board since 2016 and have a son in year 3 at school. My husband and I have lived in the Eastern suburbs since moving to Wellington in 1995 and have lived the last 12 of those years in Miramar. Retail management is my background but I currently work on a casual basis as a business analyst so as I can spend more time with our son. I am passionate about our wonderful school and have spent a lot of time as parent help before taking on the Board of Trustees role. I see my role on the Miramar Central School Board of Trustees as a wonderful opportunity to give something back to the school and community.
Julie is a parent trustee who has a son who is in year 4 at MCS. Julie has lived on the peninsula for over 20 years. Julie enjoys spending time with her family and their beautiful black lab - Bess. Her background is in human resources (HR).
